International Day of the Girl - Advocating for Women Around the World

October 11 is the International Day of the Girl and seeks to bring awareness and solutions to the unique challenges that girls around the world face every day.

From the moment a child is born, she can grow up to a scientist, author, business leader, mother, teacher, or anything she may choose to be. Providing her with healthy options, education, and resources to make her own choices means removing some of the obstacles she faces.

Depending on where she lives, a young girl’s challenges will vary and how we approach addressing those issues will change. During International Day of the Girl, join the global call to action. Create real solutions; listen to aspiration of young women; mentor someone who will someday overcome the challenges she faces.

A Call To Action

Join events around the world or in your community designed to improve the lives of girls in the most impoverished nations. Become a mentor or donate needed supplies to schools. Be inspired by or inspire girls in your life by speaking about women leaders from the past and present. Whether she was a teacher or an author, a political leader or an activist, share the stories of those who have made changes for the better in the world. Here is one girl that has inspired millions all over the world. Malala Yousafzai has used her voice to change the conversation about girls and education.
